JSC Bank "Укрпромбанк": history of development in the 21st century

The Bank was founded as a closed joint stock company under the laws of Ukraine on 7 December 1993 and was registered with the NBU on 31 January 1994 under registration number 231. Operations began under the name Closed Joint Stock Company «Lad-Credit Bank» from its head office in Kiev. On 29 August 1996, the Bank was reorganised into an open joint stock company and was registered by the NBU on 25 December 1996. The Bank has operated under its current name since 28 February 1997.

The Bank has been registered with the NBU since 1994 and its current banking licence (Number 62) was reissued in 2001.

The Bank was established by the following three founding shareholders: Industrial Commercial Consortium «Radpol»; Joint Ukrainian-Icelandic enterprise JS «Trade House Shakhtar»; and Joint Ukrainian-Austrian Enterprise «"Укрпромбанк", LTD». As a result of changes in the composition of shareholders which took place during the period from 1995 to 2003, Provita Insurance Company, LLC («Provita») and ELMAK LLC. («Elmak») became principal shareholders in the Bank. As at 1 January 2007, these two companies held 66.52 per cent. and 11.58 per cent. of the issued share capital of the Bank, respectively.
